Extensions
[Esta página está en español; Trang này bằng tiếng Việt]

This section will tell you what to do if you need more time to take care of your ticket.

Click on a topic to learn about:

  1. What if I don’t have a Court date yet?
  2. What if I already have a Court date scheduled?

  1. What if I don’t have a Court date yet?

Ask for an extension in person, by phone or in writing before the due date.

The Clerk can only give you 1 extension. And you can’t ask for more than 30 days past the due date.

The Clerk may give more time to:

    • pay the ticket
    • get proof of correction on equipment violations
    • pay your fine
    • ask for a new court date

If you are already past the due date, the Court will not give you an extension.

  2. What if I already have a Court date scheduled?

Ask for an extension in person, by phone or in writing.

The Clerk can only give you 1 extension ("continuance") and only for cases that are set for arraignment or court trial.

If your court date is for arraignment, you must ask for your continuance at least 10 court days before that date.

If your court date is for a court trial, you must ask for your continuance at least 10 court days before that date.
