If you need immediate protection -- at any time of the day or night,
including weekends and holidays, call your police department, or call
911.
Ask the law enforcement agency that responds to your call for an
Emergency Protective Restraining Order.
Emergency Protective Restraining Orders are short term. To get a
restraining order that lasts longer, come to court or ask one of the
agencies below for help.

- Can I get free legal services?
The National Legal Services Corporation (like, Legal Aid Society and
Legal Services Foundation) help low-income people who qualify for free.
They do not help people with criminal cases.
If you have been accused
of a crime
and need free help, talk to the Public
Defender's Office.
Or, when you first go to court, ask the judge to appoint the Public
Defender to your case.
